Fire Safety Awareness Training

This Fire Safety Awareness training course is designed for all employees as an introduction to basic fire safety awareness and is an excellent ingredient in the induction programme of new employees. This Fire Safety Awareness couse deals with how fires can occur and what to do in the event of a fire. The Fire Safety Awareness training qualification also provides a foundation for those employees who want to develop their basic fire safety awareness in order to assist their employer by undertaking more specific fire safety roles in the workplace to manage fire risk (e.g. as fire wardens/marshals/stewards etc).

Suitable for employees across all industries and sectors, this Fire Safety Awareness Training Course is an excellent addition to any company induction programme and forms part of an organisation’s commitment to maintaining a safe working environment. Whether you work in an office, warehouse, construction site, retail premises, healthcare setting, educational facility, or industrial environment, understanding fire safety procedures is vital for protecting lives, property, and business operations.

Workplace fires can have devastating consequences. In addition to the potential loss of life and serious injuries, fires can cause significant damage to buildings, equipment, stock, and the environment. They can also lead to lengthy business interruptions, financial losses, reputational damage, and legal consequences for employers who fail to comply with fire safety regulations. Fortunately, it is widely recognised that the majority of workplace fires are preventable through effective fire risk management, employee awareness, and appropriate training.

Throughout the course, delegates will gain an understanding of the common causes of workplace fires, including electrical faults, poor housekeeping, flammable materials, hot works, smoking materials, and human error. Learners will explore the fire triangle and understand the conditions required for a fire to start and spread. The course also explains how different types of fire develop and highlights practical steps that can be taken to reduce fire risks in the workplace.

Participants will learn the importance of fire prevention measures, fire detection systems, emergency evacuation procedures, fire safety signage, and the role of fire extinguishers. The course provides guidance on how to react safely if a fire is discovered, how to raise the alarm, and how to evacuate premises quickly and efficiently while assisting in maintaining the safety of colleagues, visitors, and members of the public.

Successful candidates will be awarded a Fire Safety Awareness training qualification (National Level 1 qualification or Level 4 in Scotland).
